Thrown and Formed

Thrown and Formed brings together ceramic artists connected through the Es Ceramics studio community. United by a shared material but distinguished by individual creative choices, the exhibition celebrates the expansive potential of clay.

The theme explores the dynamic relationship between wheel-thrown forms and the transformative processes that follow. Vessels are stretched, altered, carved, and reimagined, demonstrating how a single thrown shape can evolve into something entirely unexpected. The works on display highlight both technical skill and creative experimentation, revealing the many directions clay can take in the hands of different artists.

Alongside featured works, visitors can explore a market table offering a selection of additional ceramic pieces, all available for purchase, with proceeds going directly to the artists.

Thrown and Formed is an invitation to experience the versatility of ceramics and to engage with a local community of makers shaping clay in their own distinct ways.

The Es Ceramics studio community brings together artists with a shared love of pottery. The members space has grown since it was first introduced in 2024 with Es students moving into membership to continue to create in the shared members space. While sales from ceramic pieces go directly to artists, funds raised through the event and workshops run by members will fundraise towards purchasing new pottery equipment for the members space.

Opening Night Celebration

Saturday, 15th August, 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Kick off the event with our vibrant opening night. Enjoy wine and delicious snacks as you browse a stunning exhibition of pottery crafted by our talented members. Witness pottery come alive in this special evening filled with warmth, creativity, and community spirit.

Hands-On Pottery Workshops

Sunday, 16th August, 3xSessions available (bookings essential)
1 hour workshop run by Es Ceramics members. Booking fee of $50 contributes towards fundraising for new pottery equipment in the Es Ceramics community members space.

This 1hr workshop includes clay, instruction, tools, firing fees apply.

Ticket sales will help fund members studio supplies including shared tools, glazes and materials.

If you can no longer commit to the workshop after booking, a Full Refund or Rebooking is offered for cancellation more than 7 days in advance of course commencement- minus $10 +GST Booking Fee (for refunds)

Live Pottery Demonstrations

Sunday 16th August, from 11:00am
Open studio - members will be working on ceramic pieces, providing demonstrations and available to answer questions.
