Join a group of like-minded potter enthusiasts and build on your skills under the guidance of your experienced tutor - Dani Komorek

This intermediate class is for students who have completed one or more 6 week wheel throwing courses at Es Ceramics. Below is an outline of what to expect each week, we look forward to seeing what tools, clay, glazes and ideas you bring to class!

Week 1: Intro & group project

• Group project: Water Jug

• Demonstration & skill focus: Cylinders & Spouts

• Repetitive form

• Throw a chuck

Week 2: Continue group project

• Group project: Water jug & cups

• Demonstration & skill focus: Trimming using a chuck, foot design, balance

• Throw matching set of 2 cups

• Optional - handle, construction and attachment methods

• Pug clay

Week 3: Group project & surface development

• Decoration week

• Demonstration & skill focus: Interesting ways to apply surface textures, oxides, slips or underglazes to decorate your water jug & cup set

• Trim cups

Week 4: Personal Projects

• Design and decision making, share project direction

• Demos tailored to project needs

• Begin intentional making

Week 5: Personal Projects

• Finish forms

• Apply final adjustments

• Refine pieces

• Feedback

• Pug clay

Week 6: Glaze

The cost of this course includes clay, use of wheel and tools, firing, and materials for decorating and glazing 2kg of work.

The intermediate class will have the opportunity to fire additional pieces made in class at the following rate:

$10 per kg bisque
$10 per kg glaze
materials fee (clay & glaze)

If you can no longer commit to the course after booking, a Full Refund or Rebooking is offered for cancellation more than 7 days in advance of course commencement- minus $10 +GST Booking Fee (for refunds)
